Fall I 2006

New COL

Faculty Members:

We would like to welcome two new faculty members who are also SLU alumnae:

Laura Reyes-Armstrong (SLU ‘98, International Studies) is teaching SSC102 this term

Melissa Belmont-Gruler (SLU ‘05, Criminal Justice)  is teaching CRM499.

Sheryl Lay, who worked as an Academic Advisor  within the Center  for Online Learning for many years, is teaching MGT331.

Welcome aboard in your new SLU roles!

COL Faculty Policies

              and

Procedures Manual:

Faculty teaching courses during the FA I term have already received a copy of the New COL Policies and Procedures faculty.

Have a wonderful term!

Please review your faculty evaluations from the SUM II term!  These evaluations include important feedback from SLU-COL learners!  We gather this information to improve performance, not merely to let our students vent.

Faculty Chats:

Continuing to focus the discussions on online teaching and learning, Faculty Services is suggesting that your Faculty Chat for Fall I focus on:

Communicating with Students:

· Emails - response time

· Message Board –

         Building a Learning          Community

· Chatrooms

         Different time slots

         Scheduled topics

· Best Practices for creating an Assignment drop box

Why are we asking you to do this?  Because we want your input!

What’s New This Term?

Faculty News: Previous Term Mailboxes

Please remember to check your Previous Term Mailbox as this is a tool that previous term students can use to communicate with their professors during the first month of each new term. It is therefore important that you review and respond to these emails in a timely fashion.

Keep in mind that on the Faculty Contact List posted on the COL website, your name provides a link to the email address contained in your Contact Information, specifically in the Class E-mail field. The address you entered determines the email address available to the public. It also provides access to former  students.

Current students should be instructed to access email through the classroom site.
