About Saint Leo University
Saint Leo University (SLU) is a Catholic co-educational, liberal arts-based University that serves people of all faiths. We are one of the most sizable Catholic institutions in the United States as well as one of the largest providers of higher education to the military in the nation. Located on 120 rolling acres in central Florida, Saint Leo is a more complex University than most students realize. Saint Leo University has 14 Centers: thirteen are in the School of Continuing Education and one, the Center for Online Learning, reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Center for Online Learning serves more than 5,000 students worldwide while the continuing education centers in Florida, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and Texas educate approximately 11,000 students. A degree earned at any one of SLU's Centers, including the Center for Online Learning is the same as a degree achieved on the main campus.
Saint Leo University's Center for Online Learning was established in October of 1998 to meet the growing needs of adult students who are both computer savvy and accustomed to multimedia presentations. The Center for Online Learning began with 12 students and now serves more than 5,000 students worldwide. The Center for Online Learning offers the best attributes of traditional classroom education in conjunction with today's cutting edge technology. Through the Internet we are providing students with the opportunity to advance their education without having to travel to a traditional campus. Thus, we have active students around the world! All of our students receive the same educational degrees as campus based students.
In the fall of 2004, Saint Leo purchased a building situated on five acres in San Antonio, Fla. Located less than two miles from University Campus, the facility provides a space for all online academic programs to be together under one roof. In 2005, the Center for Online Learning (COL) moved from offices located in Tampa, Fla., and Distance Learning (DL) relocated from Chesapeake, Va., to the newly renovated space. By combining COL and DL in the same location, the University is able to maximize talent and create synergistic relationships that greatly enhance the quality of education for all Saint Leo students.
The Center for Online Learning works with Greenwood and Hall to deliver quality education online. Greenwood and Hall is responsible for registration, book purchases, financial aid and tuition payment arrangements. eCollege, the largest independent classroom software hosting company, creates and supports the technology upon which our classes operate. Saint Leo University's Center for Online Learning is responsible for all academic advising, grading, Graduation, financial aid, faculty, admission, transcript evaluation and student conduct issues.
