Common Body of Knowledge Exams
The Center for Online Learning requires all students to complete Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) Examinations before graduation. CBK Examinations support Saint Leo University in assessing the knowledge of graduates and are used by the University to maintain a high quality, accredited curriculum. The CBK Examinations are to be taken during the final term in conjunction with the Capstone Courses (see table below). The CBK EXAMS ARE MANDATORY: THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.
Important Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) Exam Information
COM498 and GBA498 CBK Exams are administered online
The CBK Examination must be proctored. Proctor guidelines are as follows:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must NOT be related to you in any way
- Must NOT be someone you report to in a professional capacity, if possible
- Must be someone who agrees to provide the information requested on the Proctor Agreement Form.
- Your proctor must be able to administer the test by the end of week 7.
- Your proctor must have a valid email address.
- Exam instructions will be emailed to proctors who have submitted the Proctor Agreement Form.
- The Proctor and the student together must submit one Proctor Agreement Form online before the CBK Exam instructions are sent
- If you fail to submit your Proctor Agreement Form in time you will not be able to take the CBK Exam, and will receive an Incomplete for the course.
- Your Proctor must administer the test in accordance with the University Honor Code, and be in accordance with the administrator's test manual for each CBK exam.
CRM 496 CBK Exam are not offered online
- You must register for CRM496 when you register for CRM499.
- Exams will be sent to proctors who have submitted the Proctor Agreement Form at the beginning of the fourth week of the term. All examinations are mailed to the chosen Proctor with instructions for administration. After the Examination is completed, the Proctor is responsible for returning it to The Center for Online Learning at 32223 Michigan Avenue, San Antonio, Florida 33576. A self-addressed, postage paid envelope is provided for returning the Exam.
- Exams are sent out by Certified Mail with a return receipt. Someone must be present to sign for the exam packet at the time of delivery.
- Your Proctor must be able to administer the test by the end of the Week 7.
- If you do not complete and return the CRM 496 CBK Exam by the end of Week 7, a failing grade will be posted, and you will need to re-register for the exam in the next term. There will be a $50 charge each time the exam is registered for.
The deadline for students to submit all Proctor Agreement Forms is:
- The Last Day of Week 3
- No Exceptions!
All CBK Exams are due:
- End of the 7th Week
- No Exceptions!
Remember, the exam is taken in conjunction with the Capstone Course.
- It is mandatory to take the CBK Exam in the same term as when you take the Capstone Course.
- It is your responsibility to contact the CBK Exam Academic Advisor (via email only) with any issue you may have concerning taking your CBK Exam

Saint Leo University hopes each graduate does his or her best on the CBK Examinations. Any questions should be addressed to the Center for Online Learning prior to the testing date. Please email your academic advisor.
CBK Exam Assessment Fees can now be paid using eLion. Go to the Student Menu under Financial Information and click on Student Billing Detail/Make a Payment. An Assessment fee charge must be showing before you can make the payment.
